Room One - Calendar Art, 2014

Today, Room 1 came to the Art Room to complete their art for the Tamaki Primary calendar fundraiser this term. We loved learning how to draw cartoon birds and put patterns onto fish outlines.

Our main focus was learning to use different art media and thinking carefully about the layout of our artwork. Our art media today was using sketch pencils, vivids for outlining, chalk pastels for our backgrounds and felt tips for our details.

It was really fun choosing our chalk pastel colours! We got chalk pastel ALL OVER our hands and the tables - but it was really fun covering our paper with colours.

Enjoy our photos!

Term 2, Room 1 - Fishes in the Water...

*Room 1!* - (Year 0-1)

Room 1 had a FABULOUS day in Art today!

We used the poem 'Be Careful, Fish' by Jill Eggleton to inspire our artwork. First we learned about different shapes of fish, and different types of fish. Then Mrs Manuyag taught us how to draw four different types of fish.

Once we had chosen our favourite fish, we transferred this onto big paper, and then learned how to use a vivid to outline our work, and how to use oil pastels to get bright colours!

We LOVE our fish artwork!

So
WALT: use pastels and colour inside the lines.
WALT: follow step-by-step instructions.
Art Media: Dye, Oil Pastels, Sketching Pencils, Crayons, Jovies
Key words: Shapes, Sketch, Outline

Check out our images below of our awesome artwork!

Feel free to post your comments - I know that the Room 1 students would LOVE to hear your feedback :>

Reflection
  • Our favourite part was sketching the four different types of fish.
  • Next time, we would like to learn how to sketch other animals.

Greedy Cat Cartoons! By Room One

Today in Room One, we were learning how to draw cartoon cats.

We have been reading Greedy Cat books and wanted to create some artwork to go with our reading work.

We learned how to draw cats by following the story of the man with no arms, who hid in a cave and was attacked by bees! It was fun!
