Room 4 - Calendar Art (Part One)

Today Room 4 came to the Art Room to prepare their art for the calendar fundraiser that Tamaki Primary are doing this term. It was really exciting to work together to begin to create BEAUTIFUL pieces of art.

We are focusing on using hot and cold colours. Our art media today was sketch pencils and vivids for outlining. Next session we will be using oil pastels to fill our artwork in.

The artist we used for inspiration was Pablo Picasso. We discussed how Picasso likes to mix up emotions, colours and facial features in his artwork to make it look interesting for his audience.

So, enjoy the images of our part one! Part Two will be coming soon....

Art Technology - Term 3, Week 3!

Last week we started our brainstorms for our ideas for our drain art. This week we completed our drafts and then took them outside to put around the drains/pipes to see what they would look like!

We WELCOME your comments and feedback, so we can make changes before we begin painting next week!

P.S. Make sure you come back and check out the Art Blog next week - Mrs Manuyag will post some photos of our painting! Our fingers are crossed for a bright, sunny day!

Term 2, Room 4 - Picasso is in the House!

*Room 4!* - (Years 3/4)

Picasso is in the house!

Today instead of learning about a new art media, we learned about a famous artist - Picasso.
It was really interested learning about how he did his art, and the things that interested him.
We were surprised to find out that he loved using lots of colour in his art - just like us!

Firstly, we learned how to sketch realistic self-portraits. Then we went over our outlines in
vivid, before cutting up our art into 8 pieces - this was a lot of fun!

After this, we using crazy colours to colour in our self-portraits! This was so much fun! It was
really funny putting the artwork together and laughing at how we looked in multi-colour!
So
WALT: draw accurate self-portraits.
WALT: create a piece of high quality art.
WALA: Picasso!
WALT: use the colour wheel to choose colours for effect.

Art Media: Sketching Pencils, Pastels, Vivids.

Key words: P
icasso, Colour Wheel, Accuracy, Realism vs Abstract

You can now find our art in the school corridor near our music room!

Reflection
  • Our favourite part was putting our art together and laughing at the result!
  • The hardest part was keeping up the quality of our colouring with the pastels.

Term 2, Room 6 - 'The Mountains Around Us'

*Room 6!* - (Years 5/6)

Breathtaking artwork!

Room 6 were astonished by the calibre of art we completed with Mrs Manuyag. We knew we
were good artists, but this was amazing! We started by discussing our key words -
perspectives, layers, and landscape. We then learned about the colour wheel, and how to
make colours pop! Then we blocked in our landscape, painted (which was harder than we
thought!) and then outlined.

Check it out!

So
WALT:
draw layers of nature to show perspective.
WALT: use the colour wheel effectively.
WALT: plan our artwork to use space creatively.
WALT: use the colour wheel to choose colours for effect.

Art Media: Sketching Pencils, Paint in Primary Colours, Black Paint, Paint Brushes, newspaper,

palettes
Key words: P
erspectives, Layers, and Landscape

These have now been displayed on the front wall in our school hall, and have already
received rave reviews!
Reflection

  • Our favourite part was looking at what we had completed at the end.
  • The hardest part was the painting - it took ages to dry and was hard to stay in the lines.

We think we need more practice at this!
